The Tail Waggin’ Winterfest is the highlight of the season in the famously pet-friendly Pocono Mountains town of Sylvan Creek. But despite attractions like an ice sculpture display, a dogsled race, and gourmet hot chocolate, Daphne Templeton finds herself annoyed by TV producer Lauren Savidge, who’s filming the festivities. She’s critical, controlling, and as chilly as the January air. Daphne would like to tell her to go jump in a lake—and as a matter of fact, that’s exactly what they’re both going to do . . .
It’s the first-ever polar bear plunge in Lake Wallapawakee, and Daphne and Lauren are among the eighty or so people who charge into the frigid water to raise funds for animals in need. Daphne makes it back to shore—with the help of a mysterious St. Bernard—but Lauren is dragged out stone cold dead. Now, with her trusty basset hound Socrates at her side, Daphne intends to assist Detective Jonathan Black in his investigation—whether he wants her to or not . . .
Includes recipes for homemade pet treats!

What I Thought:

This is the third book in the Lucky Paws Petsitting Series.  While these books can be read as stand alones, it is better to read them in order as you get to see the characters develop.  This was a great installment in this series.  In this one, there is a Winterfest happeing in Sylvan Creek and they are having ther first ever polar bear plunge to raise money for animals.  Daphne and an annyoing TV producer are among those who are taking the plunge.  While Daphen makes it out of the lake, with the help of a ghostly Saint Bernard, the TV prodcuer is not so lucky.  Of course Daphne and her trusty pal Socrates have to investigate.  This was a well written book that flowed well and kept me entertained.  I enjoy cozies that have animals in them and this is a very good series for that.  I really like the animal characters in this book, and the human characters are pretty good too.

I received a complimentary copy of this book.

  1. I have enjoyed the earlier books in this series and think she writes those animals as well as people!

  2. These look like some great books. I like dogs a lot and stories with them in it have that something extra I am looking for.
